A BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Long before the Association was registered in 1978, there were Monier Construction Company (Nigeria) Limited Senior Staff Association (MCC-SSA) and Costain (West Africa) Limited Senior Staff Association (Costain SSA). These two later came together under the same umbrella of CCESSA. The two had been the only Senior Staff Associations already registered by the Federal Ministry of Labour. The two-House Unions, MCC-SSA and Costain-SSA later encouraged Senior Staff in other construction firms in the country to form their Senior Staff Association all of which later merged into the Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association (CCESSA) in 1978 with Certificate of Registration No.: 0040. Engineer (Rev.) Josiah O. Akinseye was elected the pioneer National President of CCESSA in 1978: Engineer Chief Adefemi Kila took over the leadership of the Association in 1982 and handed over the mantle of leadership to Deacon J. A. Ajagbe in 1990. Alhaji Isiaka Akinola was elected National President on, Friday March 1996 and re-elected in 1999, Alhaji I. A. Akinola handed over to Dr. Emmanuel lkpengwa on 2nd November, 2002 at Oluyole, lbadan, Oyo State. Comrade Dr. Emmanuel lkpengwa enjoyed two terms of office until 8th of August. 2009 when Comrade President Augustine Etafo, from Dantata & Sawoe took over the mantle of leadership and was re-elected in 2012 in Uyo Akwa Ibom State.
He served two terms in office. Comrade Isaac Egbugara from Setraco Nigeria Limited was elected as National President in 2015 in Abuja, FCT and re-elected at Owerri in Imo State in 2018. He severed two the terms also in office. Comrade Otunba Dr. Ayo Adeyemo from Julius Berger Nigeria Plc was elected National President on 8th April 2022. He currently serving his first term in office.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The principal objective of the Association is as follows:
- To organize the senior staff who are working in Civil Engineering, Construction Wood and Furniture & Allied Industry.
- To regulate relations between senior/management staff and senior staff/employers and other staff within the construction and Civil Engineering Wood, Furniture & Allied Industry
- To establish and maintain just and proper hours of work, remunerations and conditions of service for members.
- To establish and maintain a high standard of workmanship, professional practice and ethics.
- To advance Trade Union Education through training of members, and other assistance to the members and staff.
- To provide benefits and others assistance to the members and staff
- To protect and advance socio-economics, cultural and charitable activities for the benefit of members, staff and their families.
- To engage in activities that are designed to promote the wider association of members by amalgamating, federating, affiliating and collaborating with other Trade Union or Association in the attainment of its own objectives and to the wider interest of Trade Unionism and Labour generally.
- To respond to social issues as they affect the industry, the society and humanity in general
- To publish or join in publishing journals and Newspapers/magazines that are affected towards the furtherance of the Association and Trade Unionism as well as labour generally.
- To promote, encourage, support and foster other objectives as are lawful and are consistent with the sprit and practice of Trade Unionism.
